Days after being booked for harassing an actress online, Malayalam director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan penned an open letter for actress Manju Warrier, and stated that he was not afraid of the allegations, and that he has full faith in his truth.

Sasidharan, who is currently on bail in a sexual harassment case, was booked by the Kochi Police after the same actress accused him of harassing her online.

On Tuesday, Sasidharan took to his Instagram handle and penned an open letter for Manju Warrier. In that, he wrote, "I saw the news that a case has been registered against me again at Elamakkara Police Station on charges of insulting womanhood. As usual, the reason for the case is my statement to the public that your life is in danger and that you are not allowed to be seen or spoken to (sic)."

He went on to say, "This case is reportedly based on the actress’ complaint. The false case that was registered in my name three years ago has not yet been investigated, nor has my statement been recorded, nor have any pieces of evidence been presented. Before I made my statement to the public regarding the concerns for my life, I had already informed you, your family, and close friends. Despite the situation where I wasn’t allowed to speak to you, and the disturbing living conditions that you yourself spoke about, I shared it publicly, backed by the recording of our conversation. Although I tried to prevent public discussion of that recording, I couldn’t stop it, which is why now, just like last time, a case has been registered at Elamakkara Police Station in the middle of the night (sic)."

"This is to intimidate me and others who might discuss it. Once again, I believe this is happening without your knowledge. Last time, in order to bring me to Elamakkara Police Station, they wrote my address as ‘Unknown Ernakulam.’ This time, I don’t know what it is. Anyway, one thing is certain: this police case is meant to ensure that you don’t make a public statement or hold a press conference about the true state of affairs (sic)," he added.

Sasidharan concluded the open letter by saying, "Regarding the case, I have no fear. Everything I said was the truth (sic)." He also used the hashtags #ManjuWarrier #SanalKumarSasidharan at the end of his post.

Sasidharan began his film career in 2000 and in the following year, he made his first short film through crowdfunding. In 2014, he produced his first feature film 'Oraalppokkam'. The film won the award for the best Malayalam film in the International Film Festival of Kerala. It also won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Director in the same year.

His film 'Kayyattam' in 2020 starred Manju Warrier and was shot on an iPhone in the Himalayas.
