Whoever said that love is no laughing matter hasn’t met the cute couple, Sugandha Mishra and Sanket Bhosale, who laughed their way to the pandal on their wedding day. Sugandha and Sanket, who have been dating for several years now, tied the knot in April this year. Surrounded by family and friends, the couple began a new chapter in their lives amid the pandemic. The couple has worked together on shows like The Kapil Sharma Show, Summer Express 2017, Comedy Classes and the movie, Filmistaan. Here, Sugandha gives a peek into their love story. Excerpts:
When did you first meet Sanket?
We met in Dubai in 2013 for the shoot of a comedy show. His flight was delayed and I was eagerly waiting to meet my onscreen partner. And when I met him during the shoot for the first time I couldn’t believe he was a doctor.
Was it love at first sight?
No, it wasn't. I was completely focussed on my work then.
What did you like about him when you first met him?
He was very clear about his thoughts and what he wanted. Straightforward, not at all diplomatic, and family- oriented.
What happened next?
It was a 15-day shoot... we spent a lot of time together and ultimately ended up becoming friends. After I came back from the shoot I kept thinking of meeting him in a very casual way. We became friends so we were in touch; he used to message and call me often.
Did being comedians play a role in bringing you two together?
Yes, it played a major role. We used to travel a lot together for TV and live shows, which gave us a chance to get to know each other better. We have a similar sense of humour and he good at mimicry. Plus, he is good actor, doctor and a family man, too — a complete package!
It took you two years to accept his marriage proposal. Did he ever become persistent?
Yes. I could see it every day and in every gesture. I could feel his is love and care without impinging on my space. We were friends and we still share a great friendship.
Where did you guys go for your first date?
We never went out on for a 'date' as such. But he would come to the airport to receive me with a bouquet of flowers or soft toys, and then drop me home. At times we would go out for a coffee or for lunch.
Who is more possessive between the two?
Possessive would be a wrong word. We are blessed that we share a great friendship and understanding. We respect each other's views and support each other.
Are there any common traits between the two of you?
Both of us are foodies and we are fond of chatpata spicy food. We love to travel and explore new places. Working till late night on our creative ideas is another commonality between us. Also, we are movie buffs, so we enjoy watching good content together—now there are also web series to binge on.
Did you face any opposition when you were ready to marry?
A few articles about us dating appeared, that's how our families got involved and interested. They were very supportive — my mom loved Sanket even when we were friends. But we had to face a lot of challenges because of the pandemic, especially regarding our wedding preparation. We had to postpone it twice, which was quite stressful.
