Housefull 5 Review: In 2010, Housefull starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, and Arjun Rampal had hit the big screens. The film became a hit at the box office, and the makers decided to turn it into a franchise. Till now, we have watched four Housefull franchise movies, and today (June 6, 2026), Housefull 5 has hit the big screens. The trailer of the film had impressed one and all, and it was a laugh riot. However, never judge a movie by its trailer.
The movie is about Ranjeet who on his 100th birthday decides to have a huge party on a cruise, but he dies. In his hologram will, he reveals to his stepson Dev (Fardeen) that his official heir Jolly should get his 69 billion. Now, on cruise, not one, but three Jollys arrive (Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan) with their wives (Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa, Jacqueline Fernandez), claiming that they are the official heirs of Ranjeet. Amid this, a murder takes place, and the three Jollys get involved in it. But everyone related to Ranjeet, including his company's board of directors, might have a reason to commit the murder. So, who is the murderer?
Comedy plus murder mystery, this combination of genres is not much explored in Bollywood. So, after watching the trailer we were quite excited to watch Housefull 5. The story and screenplay of the film is written by Sajid Nadiadwala, and it is directed by Tarun Mansukhani. The first half of Housefull 5 is hilarious. Some scenes will make you laugh out loud.
The confusion and the murder mystery part both keep us engaged. Even the adult comedy scenes have been perfectly added to the movie. What also impressed us in Housefull 5 was the nostalgia factor! Yes, there's Prada ka son Gucci, and the monkeys are also back to fight with Akshay.
However, the film falls flat after interval. After such a fantastic first half, we expected that the second half would be funnier, but that didn't happen. Apart from a couple of scenes, nothing in the second half impresses. Even the climax fails to make us laugh out loud or shock us.
Housefull franchise movies never have logic, and even that is missing in Housefull 5. We aren't complaining about that, but after a hilarious first half, the makers cannot give us such a dull second half. The runtime of the movie is 165 minutes, and towards the climax, you will start feeling a bit bored as well.
Housefull 5 Review - Actors' Performances
Housefull 5 features 17 actors in prominent roles, but the show stealers are Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt. They have been given some of the best scenes in the film, and both veteran actors have nailed it. Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Riteish Deshmukh, as usual, are very good in their respective roles. But, of course, Akki grabs the attention the most because of those weird facial expressions that make us laugh out loud many times in the film.
Female leads, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Sonam Bajwa, all of them are looking extremely hot in the film, and in the first half, they have been given scenes to perform and showcase their comic timing. But in the second half, they don't have much to do.
In the supporting actors, it is only Johnny Lever who has been given some good scenes. Apart from him, other actors like Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Chitrangada Singh, Chunky Pandey, and Nikitin Dheer don't have much to do. Soundarya Sharma is looking gorgeous in the film, and gets the perfect oomph factor in the adult comedy scenes. Nana Patekar in his cameo is fine.
Housefull 5 Review - Music
Housefull franchise songs have always been one of the best elements in the movies. However, in Housefull 5, apart from Laal Pari, no other song leave a mark.
Housefull 5 Review - Final Verdict
Overall, Housefull 5 would have been a fantastic film if the second half was as hilarious as the first half. But with an amazing first half and a dull second half, this one just turns out to be an average watch.
