Actress Sharmin Segal, known for her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, is reportedly expecting her first child. The actress, who is also the filmmaker's niece, is said to be in Mumbai currently for the final stages of her pregnancy and is due to deliver anytime soon.

On Thursday (April 24), journalist Vickey Lalwani wrote on Instagram, "Good news is hard knocking the doors of Bhansali and Segal households; Sharmin is due anytime soon."

Sharmin tied the knot with Aman Mehta, the executive director of Torrent Pharmaceuticals, in a private ceremony in November 2023 in Italy. Since then, she has been living in Ahmedabad with her husband but has returned to Mumbai in anticipation of the baby's arrival.

She reportedly got engaged to Aman in the first half of 2023.

While neither Sharmin nor her family has officially confirmed the pregnancy news yet, preparations are already underway to welcome the newest member of the Bhansali-Segal clan.

It may also be mentioned that Sharmin is not active on social media and the last photo she posted on Instagram was in June 2024. Her absence from social media has further fuelled her pregnancy speculations.

On the work front, Sharmin marked her acting debut in Bollywood with the film Malaal opposite Meezaan Jafri in 2019. In 2022, she starred in Atithi Bhooto Bhava with Pratik Gandhi.

However, Sharmin gained wider recognition in 2024 for her role in Heeramandi, where she portrayed Alamzeb, one of the key characters in the Netflix series. Her performance in the series received mixed reviews.

She was also criticised for her 'expressionless' acting in the series, which also starred Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Sanjeeda Sheikh and others.
