Emergency starring Kangana Ranaut is all set to hit the big screens tomorrow (17th January 2025). The actress has been busy with the promotions of the movie, and today, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, attended a special screening of the film. Earlier, there were reports that Emergency is banned in Bangladesh, and now, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has urged Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, to ban the film in the state.
SGPC took to X to share a letter that their president has written to the CM of Punjab to ban Emergency in the state. In the post, they wrote, "The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has expressed strong objection to Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency, which maligns the image of Sikhs and misrepresents history, and has demanded a ban on its release on 17 January 2025 in Punjab."

The poster further read, "Regarding this, Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has written a letter to Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Mann. It has been said in the letter that if this film is released, there will be outrage and anger in the Sikh society, so it is the responsibility of the government to ban it in the state. If this film is released, the Shiromani Committee will strongly oppose it. Demand letters have also been sent to all Deputy Commissioners of Punjab in this regard."
Kangana's film Emergency is set against the backdrop of emergency that took place in India for 21 months from 1975 to 1977. The actress plays the role of former Prime Minsiter Indira Gandhi, and the movie is also going to showcase her assassination.
Emergency is releasing in theatres after multiple delays. The movie was slated to hit the big screens in 2024. Later, it was supposed to release in June 2024, and then on November 2025. But, the film's certification was stopped, and after CBFC gave the certificate, it was announced that the movie will release on 17th January 2025.
Well, Kangana has left no stone unturned to promote the film. So, let's wait and watch what response the movie will get at the box office.
