Social media is abuzz with speculation that Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has unfollowed YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as Beer Biceps, on Instagram amid his India's Got Latent controversy. Several social media users have also shared screenshots as proof, suggesting that Virat no longer follows Ranveer.
The timing of this alleged unfollowing has drawn attention, as it coincides with the controversy surrounding India's Got Latent, where Ranveer was a judge on one of the latest episodes. The show faced backlash over certain remarks and incidents, leading to police complaints and summons.
While it is not known if Virat unfollowed Ranveer after his indecent and vulgar remarks on the show or much before, netizens strongly believe that the cricketer's move could be linked to the ongoing controversy.
Reacting to it, a user wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), "Ranveer ka Virat Kohli podcast pe lane ka sapna aab sapna hi reh jayega, Virat Kohli Now Unfollowed Ranveer Allahabadia."
Last year, on Virat's birthday, Ranveer had shared a couple of pictures with the cricketer and called him a 'legend'.
"Happy Birthday legend @virat.kohli ❤️ You’ve influenced my life in more ways than anyone can imagine. Still can’t forget the moment I met you. Always rooting for you," he had captioned his post.
India's Got Latent controversy
The controversy began after videos of a particular episode of India's Got Latent featuring Ranveer went viral. During the episode, he asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?"
This remark was met with widespread backlash, leading to allegations of promoting obscenity and vulgar content.
In response to the public outcry, Ranveer issued a public apology, acknowledging his lapse in judgment and expressing regret for his comments. He stated that his attempt at humour was inappropriate and unfunny, conceding that comedy isn't his forte.
The incident prompted legal actions, with complaints filed against Ranveer, comedian Samay Raina, and other associated individuals. The National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned the involved parties, and the Assam Police registered a complaint against them, citing charges of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussions.
Amid the controversy, Samay decided to remove all episodes of India's Got Latent from his YouTube channel, expressing his intent to cooperate with investigative agencies.
