Coldplay concluded its India tour in Ahmedabad on Sunday, and it became the most attended musical concert in Asia as nearly 1.34 lakh people grooved together at the Narendra Modi stadium. Lead singer Chris Martin thanked the fans in Hindi and said, "Dhanyawaad pyaare doston. Aap sabka bohot dhanyawaad ki aapne hume yaha perform karne ka mauka diya."

After kicking up a storm in Mumbai, the British band Coldplay finally concluded its India tour in Ahmedabad on Sunday (January 26), and it shattered all records, not just in the country but in the whole of Asia. Coldplay's Music of the Spheres concert at the Narendra Modi stadium on Sunday became the most attended music concert in Asia as 1.34 lakh people witnessed it live.

The Narendra Modi stadium, which is the biggest stadium in the world, has a capacity of 1.25 lakh people, and it was packed to the brim as the concert kicked off exactly at 8 pm. Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin performed the band's best tracks, including Yellow, Sky Full Of Stars, Hymn For The Weekend, Viva La Vida, All My Love, and Paradise among others.

He also greeted the audience on the occasion of India's Republic Day. "We are so happy to be here, so grateful to be here. Happy Republic Day to everybody in India. We know how lucky we are to play in your beautiful country, especially on a day when all the planets are aligned and we have the best audience in the best stadium in the whole wide world," he said.

Not just that, but Martin sent the crowd into a tizzy when he addressed them in Hindi. "Dhanyawaad pyaare doston. Aap sab ka bohot swagat hai hamare show me. Aap sabka bohot dhanyawaad ki aapne hume yaha perform karne ka mauka diya. Ahmedabad mein aake hume bohot khushi ho rahi hai. Aur namaste aap sabko jo hume live stream par dekh rahe hai," he said, and added cheekily, "That is the every Hindi word I ever learned in my whole life. So thank you!"

The Coldplay concert on Sunday was also streamed live on Disney+ Hotstar in a rare instance, as tickets for the concert got sold out in minutes and hundreds of fans rued not getting a pass for the mega event.

Chris Martin sings Vande Mataram

During the concert, Martin surprised his desi fans by singing Vande Mataram to mark India's Republic Day. Not just that, but he also hummed a few lines of AR Rahman's Maa Tujhe Salaam.

One of the highlights of the concert was that the entire stadium packed with 1.34 lakh people sang the national anthem of India in unison, led by singer Jasleen Royal, making it a moment the nation will remember for the years to come.

The British rock band also includes guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer and percussionist Will Champion, and manager Phil Harvey.
