Amid the devastating wildfires that affected the Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions of South Korea, the K-pop boy band BTS members Suga (Min Yoongi) and J-Hope (Jung Hosek) have stepped up to assist those in need. The duo has reportedly made generous donations totalling 100 million won or Rs 59 lakh apx. each, aiming to aid recovery efforts and support communities affected by the disaster.
On March 27, 2025, Big Hit Music, the agency representing BTS, confirmed the heartfelt contributions made by the two global superstars. Expressing concern for the victims and those battling the fires, J-Hope and Suga conveyed a shared message of empathy and hope through their agency.
"We hope the prolonged wildfire situation comes to an end soon. We wish for everyone who has lost their homes and is facing difficulties, as well as all those working diligently on the firefighting efforts, to quickly return to a peaceful daily life. We hope this donation provides some comfort and hope," they stated.
J-Hope, known for his consistent philanthropic efforts, donated 100 million won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association. His contribution will be utilised toward emergency relief and long-term recovery for local communities and vulnerable groups affected by the disaster. This act of generosity is part of J-Hope's ongoing commitment to social causes, having previously donated to flood relief and even helping families impacted by a tragic plane crash in 2023.
Meanwhile, Suga, who returned to the public spotlight after keeping a low profile due to a DUI controversy last year, donated 100 million won through the Korean Red Cross. His contribution will provide food, drinks, and essential supplies to residents displaced by the wildfires. Suga's track record of giving back is equally commendable, as he previously donated the same amount in 2022 to support wildfire victims in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, and Samcheok, Gangwon.
