Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, who turned 46 on Monday (March 24), reacted to Pakistani actor and his Jannat co-star Javed Sheikh's claims that he was rude to him during their time working together years ago. Calling the allegations 'bizarre,' Emraan clarified that he has no recollection of such an incident.
Speaking about the matter, Emraan told Indian Express, "It’s bizarre! I was in my 20s then, and he is not my age, so we were never friends. I didn’t hang out with him, but I don’t remember anything like what he is saying happening."
The Murder actor further added, "I don’t know what Javed sahab took back with him, but it is definitely something he has held on to for 16-17 years. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a giant comedy of errors that has snowballed into something I know nothing about."
Javed Sheikh recently appeared on Aaj Entertainment's YouTube show Ramadan Transmission alongside Omer Shahzad and Arsala, where he spoke about his experience working with Emraan. He recalled that he was cast in a Mahesh Bhatt production with Kunal Deshmukh directing the project, but had not met Emraan before filming began.
The actors finally crossed paths at Newlands Cricket Stadium in South Africa, where Javed claimed that Emraan’s attitude caught him off guard.
"I tried to shake hands with him but noticed a very cold response from his side. He shook hands dismissively and even turned his face away, which really irked me. I thought, ‘Big stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Salman Khan respect me so much, call me Javed Ji, and this young guy has this attitude. What does he think of himself?'"
Javed further revealed that after that interaction, he deliberately avoided speaking to Emraan during the shoot. "When he arrived, I did the rehearsal but didn’t bother to even look at him. In the days that followed, as we completed filming, I did not talk to him at all," he said.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Emraan will be seen in the film Ground Zero. The teaser of the film will be attached with Salman Khan-starrer Sikandar and the film is scheduled to release in April.
On the occasion of his birthday today, Emraan also announced the sequel of Awarapan along with a special video.
