Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang was seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi, which starred Alia Bhatt in the lead and was released in 2022. Three years after its release, the film remains one of the most acclaimed movies of recent times and a recipient of multiple National Film Awards. Recently, the actress opened up about working with Bhansali in Gangubai Kathiawadi, stating that she was 'very nervous.'

Appearing on Bharti Singh's podcast, Bharti TV, Darang revealed how she bagged the role in Gangubai Kathiawadi and said, "I took my grandmother to Delhi as she had knee pain. It was just the two of us—my grandmother and me. We were staying at my brother's house, as he was studying in Delhi. My grandmother is very old, in her 80s, and only we were at home. There was no one to record, so she recorded my audition video.

Furthermore, she revealed that the production house liked her audition and contacted her. She shared the news with her best friend, as many fake calls are common. However, her best friend advised her that it was fake and not to proceed with it.

"Bohot dar laga tha, I didn’t have any lines in the movie—I was one of the 10 girls along with Alia Bhatt. Unka (SLB) kaam bohot perfect hota hai, toh darr laga rehta hai ki, 'Abhi kuch gaali dega kya?' Meine kuch galat kaam nahi kiya, fir bhi dar lag rehta tha," concluded Chum.

Chum, who hails from Arunachal Pradesh, shared that she moved to Mumbai in 2018 to pursue acting but left in 2019 as it was too expensive. Later, she landed Gangubai Kathiawadi but chose to leave the city again. Then, the COVID lockdown happened, and just when she planned to move back home, Badhaai Do came her way.
