Actress Bhumi Pednekar, who is currently gearing up for the release of her Netflix show The Royals, set to premiere in May 2025, has been rumoured to star alongside Imran Khan in his comeback film. Reports earlier today suggested that she will star opposite Khan in a romantic-comedy, marking his return to the movies after almost 10 years.

At the trailer launch event in Mumbai, the actress reacted to the reports and said, "I never speak of anything until it’s officially announced." While Bhumi didn't directly deny the news, her cryptic response has left netizens confused.

The news was shared by film journalist Rahul Raut on his X, where he shared a picture of the clapboard with the caption, "#ImranKhan RETURNS TO MOVIES AFTER A DECADE as he officially begins shooting for his COMEBACK FILM today in Mumbai... #BhumiPednekar and @gurfatehpirzada also star in this dysfunctional romantic dramedy... #BreakKeBaad director Danish Aslam helms this @NetflixIndia film!"

The untitled project is reportedly directed by Danish Aslam, who previously worked with Imran Khan on Break Ke Baad. The film also stars Gurfateh Pirzada. Reportedly, it will debut on Netflix in 2026. However, an official confirmation is awaited.

Earlier, Imran was supposed to make his comeback with Disney+ Hotstar's spy series, which was said to be directed by Abbas Tyrewala, where he was slated to essay the role of an intelligence officer; however, it was shelved.

Talking about the same, Khan told Film Companion, "I am glad that it ended up not coming together. I don't want to play a character who solves problems with a gun," he said.

Imran was last seen on the big screens opposite Kangana Ranaut in Katti Batti which released in the year 2015.

He has starred in films like Delhi Belly, Break Ke Baad, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, I Hate Luv Storys, Luck, Kidnap and others.
