Tollywood superstar Allu Arjun was reportedly arrested by the Chikkadpally police in Hyderabad on Friday morning after he was booked in the Sandhya theatre stampede case, that claimed the life of a woman, who was attending the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Visuals of Allu Arjun being escorted by the police have now surfaced online and in one of the videos, the actor can be seen drinking coffee and consoling his wife, Sneha, in what looked like a parking lot. He also planted a kiss on his wife's cheek and spoke to members of his team, before leaving with the cops.
Allu Arjun interacted with the police officials and was spotted smiling as he sat in the police vehicle and left with the cops.
On December 4, a special premiere of Pushpa 2 was held in Hyderabad's Sandhya theatre, which was attended by Allu Arjun himself. As the crowd got a whiff of the actor's presence in the theatre, thousands of them gathered at the spot, and it resulted into a stampede-like situation. A 35-year-old woman was trampled to death in the crowd, and a child, who was her son, was rushed to hospital with critical injuries.
Later, Allu Arjun was booked by the Hyderabad police for causing the stampede as he reportedly arrived at the theatre without prior intimation for the premiere show of Pushpa 2.
Along with him, the management of Sandhya Theatre was also charged for not making "additional provisions" regarding security to manage the crowd.
Expressing his grief, Allu Arjun had later announced an aid of Rs 25 lakh for the family of the deceased woman. "We extend our deepest condolences to the family. We understand that no words or actions can ever compensate for the loss you are bearing. I would like to extend financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the family as a goodwill gesture... we will also take care of the medical expenses," he had stated.
The actor had said that he was "heartbroken" by the incident.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun's legal team has moved the High Court to quash the FIR against him in the stampede case. The actor, who is currently in police custody, will be taken to Osmania hospital for medical examination.
