Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan starrer Metro... In Dino was officially announced in December 2022, and fans have been eagerly awaiting its theatrical release. However, the release date has been continuously delayed. Recent reports suggest that director Anurag Basu is now shifting his focus to his next project, a romantic musical film starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela, which has been locked for a Diwali 2025 release. As a result, Metro… In Dino might get pushed to 2026.
Now, the makers have issued a statement, denied the rumours. An official note from T-Series confirmed that the film will release this year. "On the contrary to some media reports claiming that Metro In Dino is getting pushed, we confirm the movie is releasing this year in 2025."
Helmed by Anurag Basu, the anthology film also stars Aditya alongside Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, and Konkona Sen Sharma in lead roles.
Metro In Dino is a sequel to Life in a... Metro, which was released in 2007 that featured an ensemble cast of Dharmendra, Nafisa Ali, Shilpa Shetty, Kay Kay Menon, Shiney Ahuja, Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, and Sharman Joshi.
Sharing more details about the film, Basu earlier said, "Metro...In Dino is a tale of the people and for the people! It has been a while since I am working on this one and I am glad to be collaborating with a powerhouse like Bhushan Kumar yet again who has always been like a pillar to me!"
He added, "The storyline is very fresh and relevant as I look forward to collaborating with amazing artists who bring that essence of contemporary aura with them. As music plays a very important role in any film, I couldn't be happier to be collaborating with my dear friend Pritam who has literally added life to the characters and story with his work."
