The 2025 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, held a week before the Oscars, had its share of memorable, inspirational and humorous speeches from Kieran Culkin, Jane Fonda, Timothée Chalamet, Selena Gomez, Colin Farrell and Demi Moore.
Kieran Culkin after winning the best supporting actor at the SAG Awards for A Real Pain:
“Thank you, SAG-AFTRA, for this incredibly heavy award," he joked.
Jane Fonda, while accepting her lifetime achievement honour:
“This means the world to me. And your enthusiasm makes it seem less like a late twilight of my life and more like a 'Go, girl. Kick ass,' which is good because I'm not done. Empathy is not weak or ‘woke.’ ‘Woke’ just means you give a damn about other people.
Timothée Chalamet on accepting the Best Actor Award for A Complete Unknown:
“I can’t downplay the significance of this award because it means the most to me. I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness. I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there. This (trophy) doesn’t signify that, but it’s a little more fuel, a little more ammo to keep going.”
Selena Gomez on Only Murders in the Building winning:
“Wait, we never win. This is so weird. I genuinely am just so grateful to the writers. Everyone deserves this. … I'm bringing this back to New York for Season 5!”
Colin Farrell and the playful moment with Jamie Lee Curtis:
Colin Farrell was presented his first SAG Award by Jamie Lee Curtis, after giving her COVID at the Golden Globes.
Jamie jokingly called him as, “the man who gave me COVID at the Golden Globes.” “Guilty as charged!” Farrell replied to her. “But Brendan Gleeson gave it to me! So I was just spreading the love.”
First-time SAG winner Demi Moore:
“It changed my life because it gave me meaning, it gave me purpose and it gave me direction. I was a kid on my own who had no blueprint for life and I certainly knew nothing about acting. But I watched and I listened and learned from all of you. You have all been my greatest teachers, and I am so, so grateful that I have continued over so many years … to try and sometimes succeed but to keep going.”
