Jaipur: The Rajasthan government is to set up smart classes in 500 registered madrasas and 344 digital libraries in government residential schools for tribals and deprived classes. Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has given financial approval of around Rs 50 crore for this.

In a view of linking the madrasas of Rajasthan with modern technology and providing quality education to the lower-income group of students studying in residential schools, students will be taught using a smart board instead of a blackboard.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved an additional budget of Rs 13.10 crore for this. Smart classrooms will be set up in 500 madrassas, and each madrassa will get Rs 2.62 lakh for this. There are 3407 madrasas registered with the Rajasthan Madarsa Board in the state.

422 madrassas are at the upper primary level

Out of this, 422 madrassas are at the upper primary level and the rest are at the primary level. Around 2 lakh students are studying in these madrasas.
Gehlot, in the budget of the year 2022–23, had announced the phase-wise setting up of smart classrooms with internet facilities in registered madrasas.

Besides this, Gehlot has also given financial consent of Rs 36.56 crore to open digital libraries in 344 residential schools. The government has taken this decision to promote IT in the education sector.

With this approval, different residential schools, multipurpose hostels, and Kasturba Gandhi schools running under the Tribal Regional Development Department, Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Minority Affairs Department, and School Education Department will have digital libraries equipped with modern facilities. These schools are being run for SC, ST and deprived class students.
