NEET SS 2024: NBEMS Lowers Qualifying Percentile For Stray Round; Check Details

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has reduced the qualifying percentile for the NEET SS 2024 stray round, allowing all candidates with eligible MD, MS, or DNB degrees to participate. This move, approved by the Health Ministry, offers another chance at super-specialty admission. Participation remains subject to eligibility verification and counselling guidelines.

NEET SS 2024 Counselling: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has made a major relaxation in the NEET SS 2024 stray round counselling qualifying percentile. This, approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, now entitles all the candidates with a valid broad specialty postgraduate degree—MD, MS, or DNB—to take part in the last round of super-specialty counselling despite failing the earlier cutoff.

As per the official notice, while eligibility has been increased, NBEMS made it clear that there will be no modification in group-specific ranks. Candidates' admission is still provisional and subject to meeting the specific criteria mentioned in the NEET SS 2024 information bulletin. For authenticity, Face ID and biometric verification might be necessary during the admission process.

The NEET SS 2024 was held on March 29 and 30, and the results were announced on April 25, 2025. The test had a new format with three time-constrained sections to enhance the examination process this year.

Earlier, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) had postponed a stray round of counselling as it had a conflict of schedules with state-level counselling of Tamil Nadu for in-service candidates. Also, candidates who were being allotted seats through INI SS counselling could resign from NEET SS 2025 counselling, and by doing so, they would lose their security deposit.

Shortlisted candidates are requested to remain updated on the official websites of NBEMS and MCC to monitor the updated counselling schedule and ensure they comply with all requirements prior to taking part in the stray round.
