Mizoram Schools Closed: Schools in Aizawl district were closed for the second consecutive day on Friday as incessant rain lashed Mizoram, causing landslides in several parts of the state, officials stated. The state has been lashed by constant downpours since Wednesday.
A message from Aizawl Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority, Lalhriatpuia, mentioned that "Due to heavy inundation of rainfall in the past several hours in Aizawl district, all schools within Aizawl district have been instructed to declare holiday on Friday."
The highest rainfall was reported in Lawngtlai with 112.50 mm, followed by Serchhip (70 mm), Kolasib (63.70 mm), and Aizawl (63.60 mm).
Reports of several landslides in Aizawl and its surrounding areas were reported by the State Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department, blocking roads and affecting traffic. No casualties have been reported till now.
In a dramatic incident earlier on Friday, a landslide destroyed an Assam-type residence in Mauchar village along the Assam-Manipur border under Aizawl district. Fortunately, no one was injured or killed.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already put out an alert for heavy to very heavy rain, along with thunderstorms and gale-force winds, on May 29 and June 1.
Mizoram Board Result 2025
On April 29, 2025, the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) announced the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or Class 10 results for the 2025 school year. The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) also issued the results for the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) or Class 12 for the 2025 school year on May 6, 2025.
The overall pass percentage of class 10th is 76.68%. Whereas, the class 12th has recorded an 81.10% pass rate. The class 12th examinations were conducted from February 14 to March 17, 2025, and the class 10th exam was held from February 19 to March 13, 2025.
