The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell on Friday officially announced that an additional CET will be held for admission to undergraduate programmes including Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), and Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) for the academic year 2025–26.
The decision comes in response to numerous requests from students, parents, and educational institutions who reached out via email, telephone, and in person after several candidates were unable to appear for the originally scheduled examination. The first CET was conducted between April 29 and 30, and results were declared on June 4. However, participation was significantly lower than anticipated, with only 61,666 candidates appearing despite more than two lakh seats being available across the state.

In light of the unexpectedly low turnout and the resulting risk of a high number of vacant seats, the state government has approved the conduct of an additional CET. Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil had confirmed the move on Thursday, stating that eligible candidates would be given another opportunity to apply for these programmes.
The CET Cell has urged all aspiring students, parents, and institutions to regularly check its official website — [www.mahacet.org](http://www.mahacet.org) — for updates regarding the examination schedule and other relevant details.
