Eligibility Criteria for IIT Admission

To gain admission into an IIT, applicants need to undergo the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) procedure:

1. JEE Main Eligibility:

- Should have cleared Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.

- At least 75% marks in Class 12 general category students need to acquire.

- At least 65% of marks SC/ST/PwD applicants need to achieve.

2. JEE Advanced Eligibility:

- Applicants need to qualify for JEE Main and rank among the top 2.5 lakh rank holders.

- Can attempt JEE Advanced at most twice within two consecutive years.

- 5 years of age concession is provided to SC/ST/PwD students.

Admission Procedure to IITs: Step by Step

- Qualify JEE Main (depending on eligibility specified above).

- Appear for JEE Advanced if amongst the top 2.5 lakh candidates.

- On qualifying JEE Advanced, register for JoSAA counselling (Joint Seat Allocation Authority).

- Join online admission rounds and seat allotment as conducted by JoSAA.
