To view the sample paper and PYQs, candidates need to follow the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Visit the official website of GATE at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
Step 2: On the homepage, click on the download tab and then click on the "Question papers of previous years-bulk download of question papers (2007 to 2025)" or "Sample question paper for Energy Science (XE-1)-download sample question paper" link.
Step 3: After this, all the files will appear on the screen.
Step 4: Download the files and take a printout of the same for further reference.

Many postgraduate programs, such as M.Tech, M.E., and Ph.D., use GATE scores to decide who gets in. They also use them to hire individuals for jobs in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). GATE is a computer-based test that checks the analytical, problem-solving, and technological skills. The scores are valid for three years.
