Viral Video: In a mysterious hit-and-run accident that was filmed on CCTV in Sonipat, Haryana, a woman teacher was run down by a car allegedly driven by students. The victim—a teacher at Tikaram Girls School named Sangeeta—was on her way to school on her scooter on July 3, when the white Baleno rammed into her, ejecting her from the vehicle and onto the road.
How the Incident Unfolded?
Video footage illustrates two students driving on a scooter, parking it, and getting into a car. The driver initially slowly started up the car, then stopped and for some reason sped into Sangeeta as she walked behind it. She was knocked to the ground and suffered injuries to her leg and elbow. One student tried to get out of the car in order to assist her, but the driver reversed and drove off immediately, leaving the injured student on the road, according to the Bhaskar English report.
Bystanders' Delayed Response
People on the street first ignored Sangeeta, but subsequently, some of them stopped to help. She was able to stand up and, assisted by others, was taken for medical aid, reportedly.
Fake Number Plate and Police Inaction
In a report by Bhaskar English, Sangeeta's husband, Arun Malik, made a complaint on July 4 that the car had a forged number plate. CCTV footage showed a plate reading HR10AH‑6078—a bike registration number—while the original car's number is believed to be HR10AH‑6079. Although he presented the footage and the complaint, Arun said police took no action until media reports raised an alarm. When the reports came, authorities called him allegedly and assured an investigation.
