In a pioneering effort to inspire rural girl students towards a career in science and technology, 28 girls from government schools in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand are going on an educational tour to ISRO's Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) at Shriharikota. The tour, planned for Monday, is aimed at introducing these youngsters to the cutting-edge world of space science and research.

The initiative, driven by the district administration under the guidance of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, targets students from disadvantaged and rural areas, offering them a unique opportunity to break barriers and envision careers traditionally seen as distant or inaccessible.

East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, who sent the students off with encouragement at the district collectorate, emphasised the importance of such exposure in shaping the futures of these girls.

“Under the initiative inspired by the Honorable Chief Minister of Jharkhand, 28 girl students from various government schools in the district were sent off from the Collectorate for an educational visit to ISRO, Shriharikota. Such opportunities encourage the girls to dream big and pursue careers in science and technology. We hope this exposure visit will play an inspiring role in shaping their futures,” he posted on X.

Headed by Executive Magistrate Mritunjay Kumar and accompanied by instructors, the group will receive worthwhile insight into ISRO's research and technical activities, ensuring a memorable, stimulating experience intended to empower and inspire.

With the list of participating students already submitted to ISRO, this program represents an important step towards the cultivation of scientific talent among Jharkhand's rural youth, bridging the gap between desire and opportunity in the field of space science.
