The stage is set for India’s biggest T20 tournament, Indian Premier League (IPL). It is the 12th season of the league and is getting exciting with every passing year. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captained by MS Dhoni is one of the most successful sides. CSK, alongside Mumbai Indians (MI), have won the title for record 3 times.

Similar to every season, this year too fans would be hoping for exciting and fun-filled matches. Ahead of the league, here we see the probable teams which are expected to make it to the playoffs:

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

There’s no doubt when you talk about this team. MS Dhoni-led CSK are the most successful team in the history of the tournament as they has made it to the finals 7 time since its inception and have won the title 3 times. Last year, when the team made a comeback post ban, nobody ever thought that they would go on to win the trophy.

Coming to 12th season, CSK are again expected to make it to the playoffs. They can go on to win the title as they have power-hitting batsmen and amazing fielders in their side.

The side has made it to the IPL finals twice, losing both. Despite being led by one of the most destructive batsmen in the world at present, Virat Kohli’s side has never won an IPL trophy. Riding on Kohli’s hot form, RCB will look to book a playoffs berth for the 6th time and, going a step further, win the trophy. However, the side can’t only rely on Kohli as their bowling has been the major concern for last few seasons.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

This is one of the most popular teams of IPL. First led by master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar and now Rohit Sharma. MI has made it to the playoffs 7 times and won the title 3 times. The side, since being led by Rohit, has finished in the playoff in almost every season. MI had a forgettable season last year, but coming in fresh, the team would go look to secure the top spot in the points table.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Since the last 3 seasons, the side has been putting up consistent performances. They have successfully made it to the playoffs in the last 3 seasons. This year, the side is looking even more balanced with arrival of former skipper David Warner. The side has some big players like Kane Williamson (2018’s top batsman), Afghanistan star spinner Rashid Khan, India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar who have the ability to turn matches.
