The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new system that will retrieve your address and other details from birth certificate, matriculation certificate, driving license, passport, PAN, PDS and MGNREGA database. This will reduce the chances of using fake documents to create Aadhaar which will make life easier for citizens.
One will no longer need to visit Aadhaar centers to update one's address and submit one's biometric details till November. Also, One will be able to complete this task at home.
Aadhaar is now used as a proof for every important work, for which a photocopy or a digital copy is required. One will be able to share complete Aadhaar or Mask Aadhaar using the new QR code-based app without the need to provide an Aadhaar card photocopy.
The electricity bill database will see this system being extended to itself, which will further simplify problems.
About 2,000 machines out of one lakh are now on the new tool, said UIDAI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bhuvnesh Kumar, told The Times of India. He said that the agency has developed a new app that one will soon be able to do everything except fingerprint and iris at home. This includes updating address, phone number, changing name and even correcting incorrect date of birth.
To prevent misuse of Aadhaar cards, the move to allow QR code-based mobile-to-mobile or app-to-app Aadhaar transfer is being considered as important. This app can be used for check-in in hotels to authenticate in moving trains. He said the app gives users maximum control over their data, and it can only be shared with consent. It can also be used by sub-registrars and registrars at the time of property registration, where fraud often occurs.
Kumar said that UIDAI is making state governments aware to use Aadhaar to verify the credentials of people coming for property registration, so that some fraud can be prevented.
UIDAI has started talks with CBSE and other examination boards to ensure biometric and other data updates of children, which is required to be done between five to seven and then between 15 to 17 years.
At the same time, a special plan has been made to complete 8 crore missed updates for the first update for children aged 5 to 7 years and 10 crore missed updates for the second update. Apart from this, UIDAI is also working with various organizations, such as security agencies, hotels, to cover those institutions for which it is not mandatory to use Aadhaar.
