Salary transparency is being practised during job postings in India. It is becoming a common feature. According to a survey based on postings on the job platform called Indeed, some sectors are more open than others. They don't hesitate to share pay information.

Indeed India Platform

On the Indeed India platform, the share of job postings that included salary information crossed the 50% mark in 2025. In March 2022, it doubled from 26% and up from 47% at the end of 2023. This change is influenced by job seekers who value clarity, fairness and informed decisions.

Valuvox

The analysis is based on a survey conducted by Valuvox among 1,157 employers and 2,559 job seekers and employees on job postings published on Indeed India from March 2022 to June 2025.

Transparency: The New Currency

“While disclosing pay early is becoming a key advantage in attracting talent, there's still more work to be done to make salary transparency the norm. Once considered a nice-to-have, it is fast becoming a core pillar of modern employer branding. In fact, in a competitive market, transparency is the new currency for attracting top talent,” said Sashi Kumar, head of sales, Indeed India.

Pay Expectations

According to the survey, salary transparency is common in remote and hybrid job postings. Flexible job opportunities now include salary details. Employers must meet the upfront pay expectations because remote jobs attract candidates from diverse locations. This will allow employers to engage qualified talent.

People respond more to transparent postings. They receive more clicks and high-quality applications. Postings without pay information get the least amount of positive response.

Many Sectors Embracing Salary Transparency

Several sectors are now embracing salary transparency more proactively. IT products and services, banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), consulting, manufacturing, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods and retail.
