Telecom giant Reliance Jio faced widespread outage on Monday afternoon, disrupting mobile networks, internet services, and JioFiber connections across several Indian cities. While the issue has since been resolved, users in Kerala reported being the most severely impacted. The disruption began at around 1:30 PM IST, with users reporting sudden drops in mobile connectivity and data access. JioFiber broadband users also faced service blackouts, leading to a spike in complaints on platforms like Downdetector and X (formerly Twitter).
According to outage tracking sites, major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad witnessed a surge in service-related issues. However, Kerala reportedly recorded the highest number of complaints, particularly from regions like Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kozhikode. Downdetector revealed that 54 percent of the users complained about mobile internet issues, while 27 percent complained about JioFiber, and 19 percent users complained about mobile network problems.
Jio officials confirmed that a fiber cut in Tamil Nadu had triggered the outage, which temporarily affected nationwide services. “All issues have been resolved now," a Jio official reportedly said.
In Kerala, the blackout left many users without mobile signal or internet access. Businesses and remote workers relying on JioFiber also reported productivity losses due to the unexpected downtime. Users still experiencing network instability are advised to restart their devices, check router settings, or file a complaint via the MyJio app or customer care helpline.
