Infosys co-founder and stalwart of Indian tech sector, Kris Gopalakrishnan has been booked by Benagluru police in a caste discrimination case.

The former executive, who served as the CEO of the Bengaluru-based Tech company from 2007 to 2011 has been booked under the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes Atrocities Prevention Act.

Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, a co-founder of Infosys, Balaram P, a former director of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and sixteen other people were arrested by Bengaluru police on Monday.

Case filed against Kris Gopalakrishnan

On the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court's (CCH) order, the case was filed at the Sadashiva Nagar police division. Bovi community member Sanna Durgappa, a former assistant professor at IISc's Centre for Sustainable Technology, filed the complaint against the defendants.

At IISC, where Kris Gopalakrishnan is a member of the Board of Trustees, Durgappa said he was fired after being wrongfully implicated in a honey trap case in 2014. Additionally, he claimed threats and abuse based on caste.

According to Supreme Court rules, the SHCC must have one NGO representative, but Durgappa claimed that this member was not present. In August 2017, Durgappa asked a Karnataka Legislative Assembly SC/ST committee to look into the matter.

According to the investigation report, which was released a month later, the Durgappa was singled out because he was Dalit and there was no sexual harassment.

'He was supposed to be reinstated at work,' Durgappa said. He claimed to have met with the IISc director twice, on May 19, 2017, and October 9, 2020, when he submitted his review petition for reinstatement.

He allegedly faced threats of police complaint, though. After that, Durgappa went to the court to claim that the administration had mistreated him because of his caste.
