Mumbai: Anant Ambani has been appointed Executive Director of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL). This makes him the first of Mukesh Ambani’s three children to take up an executive role in the company. The decision was announced in a shareholder notice released on June 29.

Salary, Perks and Profit Commission

As per the notice, Anant will earn between ₹10 crore and ₹20 crore every year. Apart from the salary, he will also get a share of the company’s profits. His benefits include a house or house rent allowance, travel reimbursement, and medical coverage. He will also get cars, communication expenses, and personal security for him and his family.

From Non-Executive to Executive

In 2023, all three of Mukesh Ambani’s children — Akash, Isha, and Anant — were added to the Reliance board as non-executive directors. At that time, they received only sitting fees and a commission of ₹97 lakh each. Anant’s new role as Executive Director marks a key shift in Reliance’s succession planning.

Anant’s Role in the Company

Anant, 30, has been working with Reliance since 2015. He is part of the oil-to-chemical (O2C) business and leads key projects like the vinyl and polyester units and the New Energy Gigafactories. He also supports social efforts through the Reliance Foundation and wildlife conservation initiative Vantara.

Family Roles in Reliance

Akash heads Jio Infocomm, the group’s telecom arm, while Isha leads Reliance Retail and fashion businesses. All three siblings are directors in Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail Ventures. Their appointments are part of Mukesh Ambani’s clear plan to ensure a smooth handover of leadership.
