Mumbai: Adani Ports and JSW Infrastructure, the top two private port operators in India, are expanding heavily in logistics to increase cargo volumes and offer more integrated transport services. As opportunities for expanding port assets decrease, these companies are focusing on logistics to drive growth.

Adani Ports, India’s largest private port operator, runs 12 multimodal logistics parks, a fleet of rakes, trucks, and containers, and over 3 million square feet of warehouse space. The company has 18,250 hectares of land for industrial use and is acquiring more land for logistics infrastructure. They are working on creating end-to-end services, such as truck management and freight forwarding, which provide high returns.

On the other hand, JSW Infrastructure is following an asset-light strategy for growth. The company recently acquired a majority stake in Navkar Corporation and plans to acquire more logistics firms. JSW Infra is also expanding its network of Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals (GCT) and aims to create 15–20 GCTs in the next five years.

Both companies aim to increase customer loyalty by offering complete solutions from ports to logistics. They are enhancing port efficiency, boosting cargo volumes, and diversifying their revenues.

Adani Ports saw a 38.6 per cent increase in logistics revenue in FY25, while JSW Infra aims for a Rs 8,000 crore revenue target by FY30, with a 25 per cent EBITDA margin.
