Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A massive fire broke out at the VIP lounge area of Gwalior Railway Station on Friday. Effort to control the fire was initiated immediately but within moments the property worth lakhs was completely destroyed. 

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

As flames suddenly erupted, the fire department was promptly informed, after which the GRP, RPF, and railway staff rushed to the spot. 

It took as many as four fire brigade vehicles to douse the flames out.

Cause not confirmed yet 

Initial reports suggest the fire may have started due to an AC explosion. Whereas, some eyewitnesses claim that a spark from a short circuit set the furniture on fire,

However, the exact cause has not been officially confirmed yet.

Fortunately, no passengers were inside the lounge at the time of the incident, averting a potential tragedy. The fire occurred at the under-construction station while hundreds of passengers were present. They were immediately evacuated to safe zones, and emergency services were called.

Despite quick response efforts, the fire destroyed property worth several lakhs. The Railway Department has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
