Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Road accidents are rising in the state, still the dare-devil auto-drivers seem to be least afraid of pulling off ‘stunts’ on the roads.
In the recent incident, an auto-rickshaw driver was spotted driving his vehicle on just two wheels over a bridge in Gwalior. The incident was recorded in a video which is doing rounds on social media here on Thursday.
It is said that the incident occurred near the newly constructed Needam ROB Bridge, close to the Harishankar Puram Colony under the Jhansi Road police station jurisdiction.
The stunt, violating multiple traffic rules, posed a serious threat not only to the driver but also to other commuters on the bridge at the time.
Young man waves from window
Not only this, as the driver continued the risky act, a young man was seen hanging halfway out of the back of the auto, shouting and patting the auto.
The stunt was captured on camera by a group of youths sitting in another auto nearby. Although the video surfaced on Thursday, the incident reportedly took place on Wednesday afternoon.
What makes the situation even more dangerous is that other vehicles - including cars, tractors, trolleys, and two-wheelers - were also passing over the bridge at the same time. A slight imbalance could have led to a major accident.
Police launched search
Based on the viral video, local police have registered a case against the driver under the Motor Vehicles Act. Efforts are underway to locate and arrest the driver soon.
Not the first incident
This is not first such incident. Last year in September, an e-rickshaw and an auto-rickshaw were spotted driving on two wheels, one following the other one, on the road leading to Gwalior IG's office.
