Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A group of thieves broke into an SBI ATM in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior and made away with stacks of cash. The incident took place in the early hours of Friday, around 3:15 AM, in the Anand Nagar area of the city. The exact amount of money that the perpetrators managed to make away with is still under investigation.

The thieves managed to rob the ATM and make away in 17 minutes. When nearby residents saw the robbery, they immediately dialed 100 and called the police. Unfortunately, the thieves managed to run away before the police could arrive. A complaint has been filed and a manhunt has been lodged.

According to information, the robbers used a gas cutter to break into the ATM machine located at Anil Sikrwar's residence. CCTV footage from nearby cameras shows a white car with 4-5 men approaching the ATM around 3 AM. They managed to steal the cash in just 17 minutes. The method used resembles the modus operandi of the notorious Mevati gang from Haryana, though a similar robbery in Dabra earlier this month pointed to a different group, the Wahid gang from Saharanpur.

The robbers first sprayed black paint on the front camera of the ATM to obscure their identities. They then used a handheld gas cutter to sever the machine’s chassis and extract the cash. A local resident, noticing suspicious activity, alerted the police through Dial 100. Despite the quick response, the robbers had already fled the scene by the time the authorities arrived. Investigations revealed that bank employees had filled the ATM with cash earlier in the evening.
