Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The leaders of the BJP and the Congress have come face to face after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s statement on meeting liabilities.

Yadav issued a statement on Thursday saying that the government was paying the dues, and MP was the only state that fulfilled its old liabilities in just eight years. Cent per cent of payment has been made to the central coal companies, he said.

Afterwards, the state stored 11.73 lakh metric tonnes of coal, for which advance payment had already been made, he said.

Following Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s statement, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar sharply criticized the government, raising serious concerns over its financial management.

Singhar pointed out that, according to a statement by Finance Minister Jagdish Devda during the recent budget session, the state is already burdened with a debt of ₹4.21 lakh crore.

He further alleged that the government is continuously relying on loans to manage its finances, which is a matter of concern.

Referring to CM Yadav’s claim about payment of liabilities by various departments, Singhar said the statement was “shocking” and demanded an explanation.

He also questioned the Chief Minister, asking, “When was the state ever free from debt?” and called for transparency in the government’s financial dealings.
