Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed the establishment of India's 58th and Madhya Pradesh's ninth Tiger Reserve, reaffirming the Centre's commitment to wildlife conservation and environmental protection.

Taking to X, PM Modi shared his enthusiasm, stating, "Amazing news for wildlife lovers! India is blessed with incredible wildlife diversity and a culture that celebrates nature. We remain committed to protecting animals and contributing to a sustainable planet."

'Historic emphasis on restoring ecological diversity', Says Union Minister Bhupender Yadav

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav also celebrated the milestone, posting, "58th roar and counting! With PM Shri Narendra Modi ji’s historic emphasis on restoring ecological diversity, India continues to make great strides in wildlife conservation. Thrilled to announce that Madhav Tiger Reserve has become the 58th in the country and the ninth in Madhya Pradesh." He further praised the dedication of forest officials, congratulating all wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists.

'A proud moment for the state' Says MP CM Mohan Yadav

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted the state's ongoing leadership in wildlife conservation, stating, "Madhya Pradesh has retained its title as the ‘Tiger State’ and continues to take progressive steps in wildlife and tourism. The addition of Madhav National Park as our ninth Tiger Reserve is a proud moment for the state."

A New Haven for Wildlife in Shivpuri

Located in Shivpuri district of the Gwalior-Chambal region, the Madhav Tiger Reserve spans 1,751 square kilometres, with a core area of 375 sq km and a buffer zone of 1,276 sq km.

Madhav Tiger Reserve follows the recent designation of Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary as MP's eighth Tiger Reserve. The state's other reserves include Kanha, Satpura, Bandhavgarh, Pench, Sanjay Dubri, Panna, Veerangana Durgavati, and Ratapani.
