Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Over one lakh ticketless and irregular passengers were caught in the Jabalpur Railway Division in the month of June 2025.

Jabalpur is the top-performing division in the West Central Railway (WCR) zone in terms of ticket checking.

According to railway officials, 1.06 lakh passengers were found either travelling without tickets, using invalid tickets, or carrying unbooked luggage.

This number alone accounts for nearly 50% of the total 2.14 lakh offenders caught across the WCR zone during June.

Many passengers were found holding general class tickets but travelling in Sleeper or AC coaches, which is considered a violation. Others were penalized for carrying goods without proper luggage booking.

Due to the strict checking and enforcement, the WCR zone collected ₹15.93 crore in fines in June, showing a 21% rise compared to the ₹13.14 crore collected in June 2024.

Earlier in the year, the zone had caught 1.96 lakh passengers in May and 1.48 lakh in April, collecting ₹14.49 crore and ₹10.30 crore in fines respectively.

Railway officials have urged passengers to travel with valid tickets to avoid any penalties or inconvenience during their journey.
