Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Sports Minister Vishvas Sarang has reacted to the Muharram procession controversy in Ujjain, stating that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands or behave irresponsibly.

He said that some people are acting irresponsibly and such behavior will not be tolerated.

He added that stern action has already been taken in the matter and stricter measures will follow.

"Madhya Pradesh is an island of peace and will remain so. The pious month of Sawan will pass without any issues, and the Kanwar Yatras will be carried out as planned. Incidents like the one in Ujjain will not be repeated. The police are on high alert," he said.

Notably, in Ujjain on Saturday, a major controversy erupted during the Muharram procession when several participants attempted to deviate from the designated and permitted route. They tried to head towards nearby temples, which was not part of the approved path laid out by the administration.

A large number of individuals taking part in the procession forcefully scaled the security barricades put in place by the police, creating a situation of tension and unrest.

In response to the escalating crowd movement, the police were compelled to use water cannons to bring the situation under control and disperse the gathering.
