Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a remarkable medical effort, doctors at AIIMS Bhopal successfully conducted an MRI procedure on a newborn referred with a suspected brain condition.

The infant was admitted to the hospital after preliminary diagnostic tests failed to confirm any clear issue, prompting the need for advanced imaging.

Given the child’s delicate condition, the MRI unit team prioritised the case and scheduled the scan at the earliest possible time. MRI procedures on newborns are especially complex due to loud noise, confined space and potential stress to the baby.

A dedicated team of specialists closely monitored the baby throughout the 45-minute procedure, ensuring complete medical supervision.

Doctors said that while cranial ultrasound is typically the first choice for diagnosing brain conditions in newborns, MRI becomes necessary when deeper, more detailed insights are required.

AIIMS Bhopal Director Professor Ajai Singh said, “The special arrangements made for this newborn are a reflection of our medical dedication and spirit of service. This example proves that the standard of care at AIIMS Bhopal is not only excellent from a technical standpoint but also compassionate from a human perspective.”
