Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A woman allegedly killed her husband’s employee on suspicion of their extra-marital affair in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district on Wednesday. When the victim’s friend tried to intervene, the accused stabbed her too, leaving her injured.

The accused fled the scene after the incident. Police have launched a search operation to apprehend her.

According to information, on Wednesday afternoon the accused, Shikha Mishra, suspected her husband, Brajesh Mishra, of having an affair with the victim, Anika Mishra. Anika worked as a consultant at Brajesh's firm. Shikha confronted Anika at the house of her friend, Sonam Rajak, where Anika was residing. A heated argument escalated, leading Shikha to stab Anika in the abdomen with a knife she had brought with her.

When Sonam tried to intervene, Shikha attacked her too with the knife, causing serious injuries. After the attack, Shikha fled the scene on her scooter. Locals rushed both victims to a private hospital. Anika was referred to the medical college due to her critical condition but succumbed to her injuries on the way. Sonam remains hospitalised and is in critical condition.

Acted out of long-standing anger

Police visited the scene and initiated an investigation. The injured have been referred to the local hospital for treatment, whereas the body of the deceased has been sent for post mortem. Preliminary findings reveal that Shikha acted out of long-standing suspicion about her husband’s relationship with Anika. A case of murder and attempted murder has been registered against Shikha.
