Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A shocking case was reported from Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur, where a 75-year-old man was caught molesting a 12-year-old girl in the parking lot of a residential building.

The girl started crying and rushed to her home. She narrated the entire ordeal to her family, following which a case was registered at Gaurighat police station.

The accused has been identified as 75-year-old D. Srinivas Bharti.

According to information, the accused resides on the third floor of the same building in Astha Nagar. The girl was passing by the parking lot to meet her friends on Monday evening when the 75-year-old man saw her. He called her at the blind spot (the spot that was not covered by the CCTV camera) and started asking her about the exams. He then held her hand, kissed her, molested her, and touched her inappropriately. Shocked, the girl started crying, warning she would inform her parents. The accused left her and started apologising, pleading not to tell her family.

She reached her home with tears in her eyes. When the family asked her, she told them the entire incident, saying "Uncle first asked about my exams and then kissed me on lips."

Without any delay, the victim's family took her to the police station and filed a complaint.

A case has been registered against the accused

under the POCSO Act and other sections.

The residents of the building have raised serious concerns about the safety of women and children. They said the accused has knowledge about the blind spot in the parking lot, emphasising that he must have misused it earlier as well.

Currently, the accused is on the run. Police have started scanning CCTV to trace him.
