Morena (Madhya Pradesh): A shocking incident has come to light in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district, where a drunk man allegedly caused havoc inside the Lakshminarayan Temple.

According to sources, the accused manhandled a Goddess Durga idol and threw it away. He also attacked the temple priest on his head, injuring him severely. The incident has sparked panic in the area.

The incident took place at the Lakshminarayan Temple, located on Kirrayach Road under the Porsa police station area.

Around noon on Tuesday, the man entered the temple in allegedly a drunken state and started creating chaos. He broke the idol of Goddess Durga and threw it outside in the public square. When the priest tried to stop him, the man attacked him with the broken idol, causing head injuries to him.

Reasons unknown

As soon as the information spread, local residents rushed to the temple. The injured priest was immediately taken to the Porsa Primary Health Center for treatment.

Temple priest Matadin Sharma narrated the ordeal, stating that the man entered the temple intoxicated and started abusing him. "He grabbed my collar, threw me to the ground, tore the clothes of the idols, and broke one of them. Then he attacked me on the head," said the priest.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear. A complaint has been filed with the police, and further investigation is underway.
