Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A prized horse named 'Raja' died during sterilization in Jabalpur on Monday. The horse's owner alleged doctors' negligence, saying they injected an overdose of anesthesia.

According to information, Prafulla Sonkar brought his prized horse "Raja" to a veterinary hospital on Saturday after he noticed weakness. The doctors advised Prafulla to get this horse sterilised and fixed the date of the operation on Monday. Following this, Prafulla agreed and an injection of tetanus was to given to the horse.

On Monday, Prafulla came to the hospital with his horse for an operation. Before operation, the doctors asked Prafulla to bring 120 ML dose of anesthesia. The horse didn't regain consciousness after the surgery and unfortunately died.

However, the horse owner alleged that it took only 15 minutes to perform the operation and also, a heavy dosage of anesthesia was given, only 60 ml was required. The horse owner has asked for compensation from the hospital staff as the horse owner purchased the horse for nearly 2.5 lakhs and he brought it from Ajmer, Rajasthan. It has caused him financial strain and loss in business as he used the horse for marriage processions.

Professor Apara Shahi termed the horse owner's allegations as baseless. She told Free Press that an appropriate amount was given to anesthesia to the horse and every animal's body is different and it is possible that his body hasn't adapted due to which he died.

The horse owner and his family created a ruckus after the death of the horse and informed the police. The police reached the spot immediately and tried to control the situation. The police have asked the hospital staff to conduct post-mortem on the horse so that a clear picture will come out.
