Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh): State Congress chief Kamal Nath on Thursday attacked the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that the saffron party is boasting about the Ayodhya Ram Temple as if it is "BJP Temple."

“The Ram Temple is the temple of the country. It is a symbol of the Sanatam Dharma. It does not belong to a single party,” he told the media.

Notably, PM Narendra Modi has accepted the invitation for the inauguration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, next year. The assembly polls in five states including MP are being seen as a rehearsal for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

When asked about if former SDM Nisha Bangre will be given ticket from Amla constituency, he dodged the question.

The former chief minister further showed confidence in winning the state elections to be held on November 17 and said that he has full faith in the people of Madhya Pradesh that they will support the truth in the upcoming polls.

“No matter how much they (BJP) try to corner me in Chhindwara, I have faith in Chhindwara people. They have supported me for 44 years,” he said.

No alliance with SP, JDU as BJP might have benefited

Asked about the failure of an alliance with its INDIA partners SP and JDU in the assembly polls, Nath said that the party did hold talks and tried to distribute seats but the discussions went futile on seats where its rival BJP might have benefited.

7 Congress Candidates Changed

Talking about the grand old party changing its candidates from seven seats, he denied any claims of resentment and said, “There was no resentment. The decision was taken considering if a candidate said that he does not want to fight polls. Some candidates were facing judicial cases. Once they were sorted, we changed the candidate.”
