Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav while addressing the review meeting of the Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Department in the Ministry on Friday, announced that the production of grains like ragi, kodo-kutki, jowar-bajra, maize should be increased in the state and farmers should be encouraged to produce grains.
The government will now buy the grains produced by the farmers. He said that tur producing farmers should also be given good quality fertilizers, seeds and incentives for increasing production. For this, innovations like providing crop subsidy to farmers and ensuring their crops can also be done.
Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Mr. Edal Singh Kanshana, Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Chief Minister's Office Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Additional Chief Secretary Cooperation Mr. Ashok Barnwal, Secretary Agriculture Mr. M. Selvendram and departmental officers were present in the meeting.
Efforts should also be made to establish fruit and vegetable market, spice market
Yadav gave instructions to heed special attention to management in all the markets of the state. He directed senior departmental officers to conduct surprise inspections of all the Mandis.
According to the new needs, the establishment of separate Mandis should be considered. He said that a crop-wise model of Mandis should be prepared. Apart from the agricultural produce market, efforts should also be made to establish a fruit and vegetable market, spice market or a market for other special produce.
Farmers should get incentives
Yadav urged the farmers of the state to get the improved variety of seeds, modern agricultural equipment, good prices, subsidy etc. instead of chemical fertilizers.
The producing area of these crops will get incentives for good yield. The amount of subsidy will also be increased as per the requirement.
Three crops will get GI tag soon
According to reports, It was told in the meeting that due to the progressiveness of the state government, 3 crops produced in the state will get GI-tag very soon.
Secretary Agriculture said that Nagdaman Makutki, Sitahi Kutki and Purple Arhar crop of Dindori district have been sent for GI tag testing, it is expected that these crops will get GI tag soon.
He informed that after implementing the e-permission system, e-Mandi scheme has also been implemented in all 259 mandis of the state from April 1, 2025. Record keeping is now being done digitally in all the mandis.
