Mahakumbh Rush: Bhopal Railway Station See Devotee Surge, Security Tightened; 337 CCTV Cameras, RAF Deployed

In the wake of stampede at New Delhi Railway Station, the West Central Railway (WCR) has ramped up safety measures to prevent such incidents at stations within the Bhopal Railway division.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): There was heavy rush of devotees at Bhopal railway station and Rani Kamlapati railway satation on Sunday. In the wake of stampede at New Delhi Railway Station, the West Central Railway (WCR) has ramped up safety measures to prevent such incidents at stations within the Bhopal Railway division. Special initiatives have been taken to ensure safety and convenience of passengers, particularly for those travelling to Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.

Saurabh Kataria, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, said, “Given the expected increase in passenger traffic due to Mahakumbh, special trains are being operated from Rani Kamlapati Station to Prayagraj. Moreover, extra staff has been deployed at Bhopal and major stations in the division. These staff members are tasked with ticket checking, assisting passengers and ensuring overall security. The main goal is to ensure safe and smooth journey of devotees.”

As part of these security measures, 337 CCTV cameras have been installed across key railway stations to monitor crowd movement and prevent any untoward incidents. Additionally, Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have been deployed at critical points to handle emergencies and manage large crowds efficiently. The railway authorities are also focused on maintaining smooth operations, with continuous surveillance to ensure safety of passengers throughout their journey.

Safety measures strengthened

* Railway Protection Force personnel deployed to monitor suspicious activities and remain vigilant 24/7.

* Ongoing patrolling, march pastsand bag checks at stations and trains.

* Thorough checks for explosives and inflammable substances at stations and aboard trains.

* Over 377 CCTV cameras installed to monitor crowds and suspicious individuals at stations and trains.

Passenger amenities

* Unreserved tickets can now be obtained through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) for passenger convenience.

* The quality, quantity, and pricing of catering stalls being strictly monitored at major stations.

* Special focus on cleanliness at platforms, along with the availability of Janta Thali, milk, fruit juice, and drinking water.

* Special cleaning and water filling services ensured on trains heading to Prayagraj.

Travel Advice

* Passengers advised to avoid travelling on the footboard and to follow all safety guidelines.

* Passengers urged to obtain travel details only from official sources, and to avoid rumours or unverified information.
