Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Four people, including the driver, died after an SUV carrying devotees to the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela overturned in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as driver Pramod Yadav, Ramakant Sahu (26), Sandeep alias Sonu Sahu (25), and Sujit Yadav. All are residents of Janyat of Singrauli. Those injured are-- Neeraj Kumar Vaishya (23), Jayant Pradeep Sahu, and Krishna Sahu.
The tragic accident took place at Kaimor Hill in the Amiliya police station area of Sidhi district on Sunday late at night, when the driver lost control of the steering and the vehicle overturned and fell into a 12-foot-deep ditch.
The accident was so intense that two people died on the spot while two others were rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. The duo succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment, taking the death toll to four.
The police officials said that a Bolero, carrying eight devotees from Singrauli, left Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Sunday. It reached Kaimor Hill in Sidhi when the driver lost control, and the vehicle overturned and fell into a 10 to 12-foot deep ditch. Two people died on the spot while six people were rushed to the hospital. Of them, two succumbed to severe injuries.
7 dead after traveller rams into truck on Jabalpur-Prayagraj highway
As many as seven people died after a speeding truck and a traveler bus collided head-on on the Nagpur-Prayagraj National Highway on Tuesday. Horrific visuals surfaced showing the traveler bus stuck between the truck and railing of the bridge. The devotees are on their way to attend Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
