Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): AIIMS, Bhopal, will develop herbal garden on its campus for the research of Ayush medicines for treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver and cancers.
According to AIIMS, Bhopal, if recovery is fast and effective with Ayush medicines while maintaining protocol of allopathy medicines, then, there is no harm in making such an effort as the whole objective is to cure patients.
AIIMS’s Ayush department will promote research in this direction. AIIMS, Bhopal, has already carried out research on drumsticks and some herbs.
AIIMS director Dr Ajai Singh who signed MoU with Patanjali Ayurved said, “As per Indian Council of Medical Research standards, medicines of allopathy, Ayush department are prescribed to patients.

We will find the 'rich tribal medicine' of Madhya Pradesh
According to Dr. Singh, there are many such areas in the state where a large number of tribal communities live. These communities have been close to forests and nature for centuries.
These communities have very old and deep knowledge of treating diseases with trees, plants, roots, leaves and barks. This knowledge is passed on orally from generation to generation.
It is called 'rich' because this knowledge includes many such herbs and their methods of use about which modern science is still not fully aware.

Teams of AIIMS and Patanjali Research Foundation will meet such tribal Vaidyas, Hakims or elders who know this traditional knowledge. With their help, plants will be identified.
Scientific research will be done in AIIMS on the herbs that will be discovered. This will reveal how effective they are, what chemical elements are present in them.
If these traditional medicines prove to be scientifically effective, then new, cheap and effective medicines can be made from them. This will enable common people to get better treatment at a lower cost.
