Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A bizarre video has surfaced on social media, where a youth can be seen offering a cigarette to the statue of Lord Kaal Bhairav at a temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur.

The incident was reported at Shri Kaal Bhairav Mandir at Gwarighat in Jabalpur. The police have assured action against the accused youth after the video went viral on social media.

Additional SP Jabalpur Anand Kaladgi told Free Press that strict action will be taken against him and an investigation has been initiated.

Accused appeals others to offer cigarettes to god

The video is posted by Facebook user Akash Goswami. In the viral video, the youth can be seen placing a cigarette near the mouth of Lord Kaal Bhairav, claiming that the idol is smoking a cigarette. What was more surprising that, he was appealing other devotees to offer cigarettes to Kaal Bhairav Baba as bhog.

In the 36 seconds clip, he also claimed that if any devotee offered cigarette to God, his wishes will be fulfilled.

'Disrespectful', slam netizens

According to infromation, the youth offered a cigarette to Lord Kaal Bhairav at Shri Kaal Bhairav Mandir in Gwarighat, Jabalpur as bhog and made a video of it. The video circulated widely on social media, drawing flak from the netizens, calling it 'disrespectful and inappropriate.'

After the video went viral, police were informed. The Jabalpur police started the investigations and made a special team to address this matter.

Notably, Kal Bhairav is the only Hindu deity to whom liquor is offered as ‘prasad or bhog’.
