Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The class-11 girl student, who allegedly set herself afire after being sexual harassed by a group of youths in Jabalpur, died during treatment at a hospital early hours on Wednesday.

The girl, 16, poured Kerosene on her and set herself ablaze. She sustained 90% burn and was admitted to Jabalpur medical college.

The suicide recovered from spot by police indicated that she was being harassed by a group of youths including three girls. She also mentioned the names of all fives in the handwritten note.

She also claimed that she had gone to Ranjhi police to lodge a complaint against all five but police personnel present there did not listen to her plea.

"My daughter had approached the police station, but no action was taken. She was upset over the constant harassment by accused. They had also recorded an obscene video and were blackmailing my daughter," the girl's father said.

The girl, in her one page suicide note, wrote that she was fed up with harassment. "They (all five) have put my life into trouble. I am, even, not able to move out of my house as these boys keep moving around my house,” the girl wrote in the suicide note.

According to reports, the girl, a resident of Ranjhi in Jabalpur, went to the roof of her house and poured kerosene on her. She set herself ablaze. The neighbours who spotted her doused the fire and rushed her to a nearby hospital.

Gopal Khande, additional superintedent of police (ASP), said four accused had been arrested while efforts were on to nab the fifth accused.
