Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Two groups of students clashed at ITM University in Gwalior, during which shots were also fired.
The incident occurred around 3 pm on Wednesday outside the university campus under the jurisdiction of Jhansi Road police station. Police registered a case and began searching for the accused.
According to reports, the dispute stemmed from a previous clash between students while boarding a college bus. In retaliation, one group attacked two students from the opposing side, kicking and punching them before allegedly firing a shot.
One of the victims, Yuvraj Singh Sikarwar (21), a student at the ITM University, filed a complaint with the Jhansi Road police along with his friend Kunal Singh Kushwaha.
In his statement, Yuvraj claimed that he was speaking with his friend Rohit when Alok Jadon and three others—Jatin Sikarwar, Shivraj Gurjar, and Kartik—arrived at the varsity’s entrance gate. Upon seeing them, Rohit left the spot. As Yuvraj headed toward his parked bike to go home, the accused allegedly demanded that he call Rohit.
When Yuvraj said he didn’t know Rohit’s whereabouts, they began verbally abusing him. When he objected, the group assaulted him, leaving him severely injured. His friend Kunal tried to intervene but was also beaten with kicks, punches, and sticks.
During the attack, one of the assailants reportedly pulled out a country-made pistol and fired a shot. The attackers allegedly threatened the victims, saying, “You may have escaped today, but you won’t survive next time.”
Police have launched a search for the accused and registered a case under relevant sections, including assault and illegal firearm use. An empty bullet shell was recovered from the scene. Authorities stated that the four students involved in the assault and firing will be arrested soon.
