Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Nishatpura police have arrested four persons for slaughtering a cow at Palasi village early on Friday morning. The action was taken on the complaint of Bajrang Dal activists who reached the spot after receiving information.
Severed remains of the bovine have been seized from the spot, police said. In-charge Nishatpura police station Rupesh Dubey said, a deserted spot at Palasi village in Karod area was raided following a tip off from Bajrang Dal leader Shyam Yadav.
Taking action on the complaint, two persons identified as Rehan and Arbaz have been arrested. Questioning from them revealed that they slaughtered the cow with their aides Sohel, Alam and two others who are on the run. An FIR has been registered against them under prevention of cow slaughter act and other relevant sections of BNS, he added.
Bajrang Dal members said that they arrived at the spot at around 5 am but the accused fled after seeing them approaching. A cow was rescued from the spot while severed remains of a slaughtered cow along with a knife were found there.
Police officials said that the arrested accused Rehan and Arbaz are residents of Jehnagirabad area. They were being questioned to establish if they were part of a bigger cow smuggling and slaughtering racket. Moreover, they will also be questioned about persons involved in selling the bovine meat, officials added.
